Project Name: Westin Hotel – LombardThis hotel is an all concrete structure. The first floor is poured in place concrete while the remaining 21 stories are all precast concrete walls and floors. Utilizing a combination of fall protection methods, the erector successfully erected this structure with only one minor injury related to an ankle twisted on a stone on the site. The project utilized a 300 ton Manitowoc track crane with 200’ of main boom and a 120’ luffing jib. This provided many opportunities for the crew and operator to display their expertise as many of the picks were blind and performed through hard line communication. Optimum’s role was to provide safety inspection, support, training and consulting services to the erection crew.
